About Abbey Weisbrot

Expedition Leader

Abbey lives in the town of Daajing Giids, on the island archipelago of Haida Gwaii off the west coast of Canada. She considers herself incredibly fortunate to quench her thirst for the wilderness both from her backyard while at home and also from her floating homes on board expedition vessels.

Abbey followed her passion for nature into her studies by completing an adventure guide diploma and a Bachelor of Tourism Management, both at Thompson Rivers University. She has been an adventure guide in various ocean environments since 2009.

Abbey’s advise to fellow expedition travellers is to consciously take time to pause, take a deep breath, smile and be present to the incredible beauty that surrounds each day. Some of her favourite moments in the polar regions are in the early morning, when the crisp air and morning light awaken her to a new day of possibilities. When not in the polar regions, Abbey enjoys baking all things sourdough, running, paddling and eating popcorn.
