Ben grew up exploring the mountains of southwestern Montana which inspired a deep appreciation of the natural world at an early age. His professional mountain career began in 2007 while guiding summit trips on Mt. Shasta in northern California. He has since gone on to guide 12 Denali expeditions and numerous other trips into the Alaska range, and mountain expeditions in Argentina, Ecuador, Mexico, Nepal, Peru and the ice caps of Chilean Patagonia. Ben’s first trip to Antarctica was in 2012 where he has since spent more than 1700 days, including a full winter, supporting scientific research as part of the US Antarctic Program’s Field Safety department.

Ben now lives in Missoula, Montana and when he is not in the polar regions, he can be found mountain biking, backpacking, paragliding, packrafting, diving in warmer climates, and searching for good coffee.
