Jomi was born in Germany and raised in Ireland by German parents. Traveling to remote places in northern Scandinavia, southern Africa, and various parts of North America from a young age sparked a life-long passion for the great outdoors. His favorite things to do outdoors are hiking and birding.

Upon completing a bachelor’s degree in music, Jomi moved to South Africa in 2013 where he completed his field guide studies and worked in various national parks. He guided guests on walking trails, birding safaris, and overland trips., Jomi’s passion for conserving the natural world grew while he spent time working in various parts of Africa such as Namibia, Botswana, and Rwanda. He now splits his time between guiding in the Polar Regions and Africa. When he has time in between, he’ll almost certainly be exploring the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, which he now calls home.

A pair of binoculars are usually hanging from Jomi’s neck, and you will most likely find him scanning the horizon for any animal with fur or feathers.
